About:
Rachel is a third-year PhD at UW-Madison in GNS+ on the Folklore track minoring in Medieval Studies. She completed her bachelor’s at the University of Texas at Austin and her master’s at Uppsala University. Her research focuses on late-medieval Scandinavian popular culture, especially Swedish culture. She is also passionate about Swedish language and teaching Swedish. She has studied Swedish for nearly a decade and has lived in Sweden for several years prior to starting her PhD. She has taught first-year Swedish at UW-Madison and is thrilled to now have the opportunity to teach Swedish for NORD’s inaugural year at WISLI.
