NORDsummer Intensive Language Program

Welcome to NORDsummer!

NORDsummer is a special eight-week intensive language program for people interested in learning Scandinavian languages. NORD allows students from all around the world to jump-start their Scandinavian language studies and have access to languages that are not commonly available elsewhere. During summer 2024, NORD will be offering First and Second Semester Swedish and Danish! NORDsummer is one of seven Wisconsin Intensive Summer Language Institutes (WISLI) and is sponsored by the Language Program Office (LPO); European Studies at UW-Madison, a Title VI National Resource Center; and German,Nordic, and Slavic+ (GNS+) at UW-Madison. Collaborating with WISLI, the LPO, European Studies, and GNS+, offers competitive pricing for out-of-state residents, extra-curricular cultural programming, and pedagogy training and support for NORD instructors.

The NORDsummer 2024 program will be held during UW Madison’s 8-week summer session from Monday, June 17th until Friday, August 9th, 2024.

The priority deadline for applications will be March 15th! If you are interested in applying to NORDsummer, please contact us at nord@lpo.wisc.edu to see if there is room on the wait list before submitting your application.

Note: If you are a minor, you must be a Junior or Senior in high school and currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program to apply! See our Minor Policy for more details and requirements.
